Fruit, The Other F Word

Ok, here it is, the most anticipated blog post of the week

Fruit.

Oh yes, nature's candy. Also, nature's sweet little way of keeping you fat and unhealthy.

But the food pyramid says we need 2-3 servings. The food pyramid is a fool.

Here is why you need to avoid fruit at all costs, unless you want to be fat and unhealthy

1- A lot of the fruit that is grown today is much higher in sugar than they would be in a natural environment. Have you ever tasted a wild blueberry? How about a wild apple? On their own, they are delicious, but you may be surprised to discover that they aren't nearly as sweet as modern day varieties. Over thousands of years, humans have been able to make fruits larger and sweeter than their wild predecessors through hybridization. Thanks Obama

2- Let's look at a fruititarian (someone who only eats fruit). Recent studies have found that someone who has practiced this lifestyle for two or more years has the following health related issues: dental decay, osteoporosis, wasting of muscle tissue, inability to maintain a healthy weight, chronic fatigue, skin problems, thinning hair, weakening nails, and excessive irritability.

3- Another problem with a high fruit diet is that it can lead to problems involving the hormones that regulate your blood sugar; insulin, glucagon, and growth hormone. A chronic imbalance of these hormones is a sure way to develop cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

4- People may believe that fruit is nutritious but unfortunately fruit contains a lot of sugar – around 10% by weight (the rest is mostly water). Just taste an orange or a grape. Sweet, right?
Five servings of fruit per day is equivalent to the amount of sugar in 16 ounces of soda (500 ml). Contrary to what many people believe the sugar is more or less identical (about 50% glucose, 50% fructose).
Sugar from fruit can shut down fat burning. This can increase your hunger and slow your weight loss. For best results avoid fruit – or enjoy it occasionally as a treat.

Please don't tar and feather me over this post. it's my opinion and if you want to eat fruit, then by all means, nom away. i am still providing my own opinion as to why i avoid it.
